British Columbias Casino Revenues Up More Than Lotteries
According to B.C Lottery Corporation's yearly report, casino revenues are up compared to lotteries in British Columbia.
The annual report for 2005-2006 shows that the people in British Columbia are now supporting casino games more than playing the lottery.
Public support for the lottery has waned from fifty eight percent two years earlier to fifty one percent currently.
B.C Lottery Corporation is aiming for seventy five percent public support for this year.
Waning public support is blamed to media coverage of casino gambling and increasing casino ads from the casino operators in and out of British Columbia.
Devoid of strong public support, the lottery firm is not expected to reach the revenue target for this year. While casinos in the British Columbia area have gathered more than one billion dollars from the players during its first year alone.
Revenues for slot games reached seven hundred sixty three million dollars while the table games had three hundred twenty two million dollars.
This is the first year that the casinos have exceeded the lottery revenues.
The annual report expects that gambling will continue to rise with a forecast revenue of over one billion dollars in 2008.
B.C Lottery Corporation aims to reinvent lotteries by transforming bingo centers to community gaming halls.
